about

"Over the last year or so of my life I feel like I’ve created and achieved so much. I’ve played countless incredible shows, I’ve written and recorded so much music either on my own, or with some of the nicest creative people I know. If you told me three years ago that this is what my life would be like I would be so excited, but I also probably wouldn’t believe you. This drive and, if I’m being honest, what introduced me to a lot of people I work and collaborate with today, was because one of my first bands called Intern. Intern was (and still is) one of my favourite things I’ve done so far in my life. We had wild dreams and aspirations of becoming a niche Bandcamp group that would gain a small online following through Youtube algorithms, then get signed to small independent label, tour across North America, play at art spaces, houses and bars, like all of our favourite bands and musicians at the time. I know...very specific, but when you listened to the amount of William Bonney and I Kill Giants we did, you would understand. We played a mix of emo, screamo and math rock, which made us stick out in a sea of hardcore punk, metal and pop-punk that was being played during that time. In the moment it seemed like a bad thing, but in retrospect it taught me one of the greatest lessons I could have learned. This was to always stay true to yourself and never change yourself for someone else, be yourself 100% of the time, to love it and own it. We started out as the band that people would walk out on, and became the band that people would show up just to see. It makes me super proud to know me and my best friends inspired people younger than us and our age to listen to new music they might have not heard before (ex I Kill Giants,) to take playing music more serious and just have a blast when you’re at a show. We’d spend almost every day of the summer in my shed or basement, playing the same songs over and over again until we had them perfected, then probably celebrate by going to Bergs… my Ceebs homies know the drill.
We started these recordings about two years ago, and in all honesty life got in the way for us. We’d love to extend our deepest thank you to our pal (and at one point bandmate,) Jacob Cherwick. Jacob has spent countless hours mixing this project for us, and he engineered most of the album (minus a few tracks that I did.) There’s a lot of people who blessed us with gang vocals, and some, a bit more than that. On the Bandcamp page it has all the names of those who contributed, so if you’re curious give it a read. I’d also like to thank my good pal, Albert Dalton, for his verse he added to our cover of “I Am A Cop”. Albert would come out to so many of our shows and rap over the breakdown of the one hardcore song we did, just because we couldn’t conform to anything standard or normal lol. Though it makes me sad to listen to this album and think of how this band is no more, it will always hold a special place within me; it taught me a lot of wonderful things. This release is a reminder to me to just create, to not care about what anybody else thinks, to not care about being “good enough”, just to have fun, be yourself and know that people will follow and notice." - Liam.

"I was hit with a lot of nostalgia listening to these after so long! Before this band I was at a point where I almost gave up music completely. After being invited into this band I rediscovered my love for music. I was given so many opportunities to get up on stage and play which is something I could never see myself doing before. I've met so many great friends over the years through music and have had many life changing experiences. And though i am no longer a part of intern I can not deny the importance it has been to my music career and life in general. I'm very happy to see this music released!" - Nick S.

"This band was my first creative output that I was so proud of with people who shared the things I love, from the covers of rise against to playing songs we wrote. It was a wild ride with summer days in sheds and sweaty basements. I'll always remember it and the effect it had on me. So thanks for the good times. Till all good things fall apart" - Stephen.
